CIBART is a not-for-profit company registered under Indian Companies Act as Section 8 (Earlier as section 25) and NGO DARPAN of NITI AAYOG. CIBART completed 21 years of existence. It is working as a dedicated agency for bamboo research and development in India and has operations in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
CIBART’s priority is to work with Indian as well as International Stakeholders include artisans, farmers, women, industry and academia to focus on the use of bamboo and NTFPs as strategic resources that support sustainable development and green economy action plans. Its strategy and performance contribute directly to eight Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
1. SDG 1:End poverty in all its forms
2. SDG 7:Provide affordable, sustainable and reliable modern energy services for all
3. SDG 9 :Creating eco-friendly Infrastructure
4. SDG 11:Access to adequate and affordable housing to create sustainable cities
5. SDG 12:Efficient use of natural resources
6. SDG 13:Address climate change
7. SDG 15:Protect and restore terrestrial ecosystems
8. SDG 17:Working with various National and International Organisations
To achieve the above eight SDGs, CIBART is working in various functional areas such as resource development and management, market survey, monitoring and evaluation, baseline survey of NTFPs, medicinal plants, herbal products, livelihood generation, value addition, skill development training, marketing and product design and development, enterprise development, natural fiber extraction and processing, technology transfer and community development with various Government Department, Private and Public organisation at national and international level.
CIBART has CORE expertise apart from above mentioning
a) Bamboo nurseries establishment
b) Plantation of bamboo species in bunds/ boundaries/ block which will provide additional income to farmers
c) Supporting bamboo-based quality planting material for biomass generation and production
d) Support in training the artisans in bamboo crafts, furniture and structural components
e) Farmers training on awareness generation on bamboo benefits and technology support
f) Conduction of exposure programs to the farmers at our Common Facility Centre, Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh; Tapi and Navsari Gujarat to demonstrate different bamboo products and species.
